Hockey Tournament – Official Rules & Regulations
General Information
- The tournament includes both Dutch and international teams.
- All matches are played on two water-based pitches.
- Classifications: On Saturday all teams will play each other for classification. Each team plays 7 matches.
- On Sunday, based on their individual ranking achieved on the first day, the teams will be divided into two pools. The top 4 into one pool and the remainder into the other pool Each team will play 3 matches.
- During the group phase, teams play alternately on both pitches according to the official schedule.
Match Duration & Points System
- Match duration: 20 minutes (no halftime).
- Points allocation:
- Win = 4 points
- o Draw with goals = 2 points
- o Goalless draw = 1 point
- Loss = 0 points
Team Composition
- Matches are played 7-a-side, with up to 4 substitutes.
- Unlimited substitutions allowed.
- All players must wear matching uniforms (same shirts, shorts, and socks).
- Teams must be ready at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the match.
- A delay of more than 5 minutes after the official start time will result in a forfeit (0 points) for the team that was too late and a win (4 points) for the team that was on time.
Refereeing
- Each team must provide 2 referees (can be players, coaches, supervisors, etc.).
- Referees must report to the jury table 5 minutes before start of the game to collect equipment and instructions.
- Matches are officiated by 2 referees and results are recorded on official score sheets.
- After the match the referees need to report the result of the game at the jury table.
Special Match Rules
- Shoot-outs instead of penalty corners:
- For fouls in the goal area, a shoot-out replaces the penalty corner.
- The fouled player (or the last attacker to touch the ball) takes the shootout. o Duration: 8 seconds.
- Shoot-out stops once ball is outside of the dotted circle
- Fouls or ball out of play in the small area:
- Restart with a free hit outside the area.
- No direct pass into the circle allowed.
- No hitting (shooting) allowed – Hitting is only permitted when shooting at goal.
- No balls higher than knee-height allowed, unless with the intention to score a goal (directly towards the goal).
Fair Play & Sportsmanship
- This tournament is a celebration of hockey and is meant to be a fun and friendly event.
- Teams are expected to show maximum sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie.
- The organizing committee reserves the right to amend rules before or during the tournament, and will inform all team delegates accordingly.
